Second Life is home to some amazing art, much of it created "in world."  Take a look!

Classic Paintings Art Gallery Museum

This museum has various galleries with a great number of paintings from all periods. It's a great place to find paintings to discuss, write about and critique. It's rated mature, but to quote the last post, "aren't all museums?"

Second Louvre Museum (Mature, but then aren't all museums?)

It is not the one in Real Life (RL) Paris, but it is one of the great ones in SL!  The museum has a number of galleries containing wonderful art produced in SL.  Great subjects for writing and/or conversation activities.  I've taken my own students here for conversation starters.

Virtual Starry Night (Mature, though in an artistic way)

What might happen if a group of SL artists took some of Van Gogh's most famous works and turned them into 3-dimensional works of art in SL.  Well, for one thing you can now walk right into them!  This is one of the most creative exhibits in SL.  Well worth a visit.

Evolutions Museum (mature)

An eclectic museum of SL art, ranging from sculpture to cars to furniture to fashion.  Like many museums in SL you can submit your own art for consideration for display!

Primtings (Mature)

A collection of builds and scuplted art, ranging from impressionism to surrealism.  This place be used as a schema activator for a discussion about art.  Alternatively, it could generate discussion and, in ESL classes, could generate descriptive language such as, "It look like a ..."

(Note: in the surrealism collection, there's some very interesting stuff in the spirit of M.C. Escher)

Noggins Cafe Art Gallery

This gallery is ran and organised by the residents and friends of Noggins Cafe.  Artists are invited to display their work for one month, for free.  In return the artist organises an Open Evening or similar event to showcase their art.

Regular discussions on the Expressive World of the Arts are held in the Cafe Building, open to all.
